RIM Academy

Essentials for digital transformation and creating future-proof businesses

The RIM Academy

Since 2017, we have been operating our Youtube channel.
The goal was to make parts of our knowledge available to the general public.

Do you know this? You want to penetrate complex digitalization topics from within your company. Now you are dependent on consulting a software vendor or a consulting firm. It is in the nature of things that their first intention is to sell the software or the service and only in second place to provide you with precise knowledge. It is therefore often difficult to obtain valid, neutral knowledge about digitization. This is where our YouTube channel comes in.

We wanted to convey the essence of knowledge on the topics of digitization, PLM, ERP, configuration, etc. in a condensed form. The success of our channel proved us right. Behind the channel is what we call the RIM High Performing Method and Knowledge Machine, our steadily growing toolbox of methods and knowledge.

With the initiation of the RIM Academy, we have decided to make this available to the public in different teaching and learning formats. All our formats can be certified on request. In doing so, we work with the Steinbeis+Academy together.

The special feature of the RIM Academy

When we speak of the RIM Academy, we sometimes use the Shaolin Monastery term for digitization. This analogy derives from the specificity of our view of digitization, much like the specificity of the Shaolin monks' martial art. We know from our projects and the feedback from our clients that there is great strength in our viewpoints and methods, and that they combine theory and practice with extraordinary precision. Of course, we also share the humility of the Shaolin monks. There are many views on the topic of digitization and many competitors in the market who, like us, offer exceptional teaching and consulting concepts.

Just as the teaching in Shaolin Monastery is based on the techniques of Shaolin Kung Fu, the RIM Academy is based on a set of concepts and principles that give it its uniqueness in the context of knowledge transfer.

The language system of the RIM-High Performing Method and Knowledge Machine

Within the framework of our RIM-High Performing Method and Knowledge Machine, we have created a language and explanation level that abstracts the complex interrelationships of reality in an understandable and technology-neutral way. It is a naturally usable language system which is sufficiently formalized in the focused subject areas (the system enterprise) to be able to speak precisely. This creates a completely new discussability of the most complex contents around digitalization. From our level of language and explanation, a system of precise maps has emerged for a basic orientation of digitization in companies that has not existed before. Our methodologies are reality-extracted. We have crystallized the associated knowledge extracts with our methods of ontology contouring and reality extracted categorization from the exact application in operational reality.

Prima Inter Pares Principle of Digitization Knowledge

Digitizing companies means digitally mapping corporate reality in order to then prospectively simulate real (business) processes, digitally automate them or technically support their execution. For this purpose, information architectures are mapped in IT systems. These have special information and structure semantics suitable for the respective purpose. Information and structure semantics thus form the skeleton or framework through which business processes are handled. The desired behavior to be mapped in the IT system is anchored in their objects. This means that information and structure semantics play a key role in the transfer of digitization knowledge (prima inter pares). The RIM-Prima Inter Pares principle picks up on this insight and thus places information and structure semantics as Prima Inter Pares at the center of all RIM Academy teaching concepts.

Project Competence Principle

The Steinbeis Project Competence Concept is based on a consistent practical orientation with a solid scientific foundation.

With this concept, we are breaking new ground in terms of both content and organization:

This is because the projects carried out by our students, as integral transfer instruments, ensure that students acquire the necessary competence during as part of their courses to transfer the knowledge they have acquired through practical application in a company. At the same time, the projects associated with the courses ensure that the practical orientation in terms of the student's learning objectives is consistently pursued and promoted throughout the entire duration of the studies

Our Academy Portfolio

Our seminars and workshops, which are conducted by top experts, provide you with the necessary knowledge in the respective knowledge domains and advance not only your company, but also you personally. We are constantly developing our offering and will be happy to work with you to design an offer that is tailored exactly to your needs.

Furthermore, we currently have the following offers:

Complex Made Easy

The goal of the Complex Made Easy series

We explain methodical domain knowledge (e.g. PLM, ERP and MES, IoT) holistically on a continuous, reality-comparable example (for PLM e.g. from the definition of requirements to the planning of production) including hands-on feeling on the IT system.

Our special approach

This basis for our Complex Made Easy series is our methodical knowledge level, which makes the complex interrelationships of the domains understandable and communicable. Based on this, we have created examples that can be compared to reality and implemented them in common IT solutions (e.g. Teamcenter, SAP PLM and CIM Database). In this way, you can experience hands-on the basics of working in a specialist domain. Look forward to application-oriented use cases and real case studies.

Your benefit

After participation...

  • Understand the thinking behind the respective domain (e.g. PLM, ERP, MES) and can decide which aspects are important for your concerns
  • know strong and practice-oriented explanatory models of the subject domain
  • Overview the business processes involved in their entirety
  • Be able to name the individual tasks of the different domains and explain their purpose
Bookable seminars:

PLM Complex Made Easy

Experience Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Breathtaking subject matter, incredible automation, release processes like dropping an anchor, and a beguiling process flow! Controlling a complete PLM by yourself is like a revelation for enthusiasts - hunting over the core PLM use cases, experiencing them as in best practice reality, is an absolute MUST for every engineer! Discover the formula for limitless fun and real challenge! Get to know PLM from its wackiest, but also best side, mediated by top experts.

You panic before each use case, but only because these processes go wrong so often in your company.

Essentials Series

The goal of the "Essentials" series

The essential goal of the "Essentials" series is to provide experts with precisely the knowledge of the related domains that is important for them. We focus on all areas of digitization, especially PLM, ERP and MES.

Essentials provides experts in a field related to digitization, PLM, ERP and MES with the methodological essences of an adjacent field in a precise and practical manner.

Our special approach

We have created a level of knowledge transfer that abstracts complex relationships in reality in a way that is understandable and technology-neutral. This level of knowledge transfer is precisely linked to real applications. In this way, we create a completely new way of communicating complex content related to digitization.

This is complemented by a system of precise maps that contours a basic order of digitization.

Bookable seminars:
  • Methodical Essentials for PLM Experts
  • MES Essentials for PLM Experts
  • ERP Essentials for PLM Experts
  • PLM Essentials for ERP Experts

Diploma of Advanced Studies in Digitalization & Information Architecture (DAS DIA) - a Shaolin Monastery for Digitalization

Background

The requirements for consultants in digitization have changed fundamentally.

Whereas in the past consultants were often pure technicians with little knowledge of the relevant industry processes who were told what to do by the respective customer, today they are expected to: understand the essential ACTUAL enterprise processes, know the best-in-class end-to-end processes, design the associated information architecture, explain it in an understandable way, and be able to implement it in the various IT systems that exist or are to be implemented.

In order to meet these requirements, top consultants today need a fundamentally different skills profile and completely different consulting methods than before.

Aim of the training

The aim of the DAS DIA is therefore to elevate experienced practitioners and consultants in the field of digitization to a future level of capability.

Our special approach

To this end, the DAS DIA imparts in-depth knowledge of all digitization-relevant business processes in various industries, and teaches completely new methods for analysis and implementation. The assurance of quality and knowledge growth is practiced through practical application in real situations with accompanying coaching and secured via a final exam.

The DAS DIA is based on specially developed methods from the RIM High Performing Method and Knowledge Machine. The curriculum was designed by Prof. Dr. Martin Eigner and Prof. Dr. Jörg W. Fischer and is taught to a large extent by the two professors.
